With laser liposuction allowing more delicate and accurate procedures, facial liposuction has become increasingly easy and more available than ever. Facial liposuction is simply liposuction, the process of removing fat cells from undesired areas of the body that has been used to treat areas of the face and neck. The procedure is popular with both men and women and is a popular request of male cosmetic enhancement clients. The procedure itself is simple and relatively quick. The recovery time is even shorter compared to traditional liposuction treatments, of course that really depends on the size of the area that was treated and facial areas are generally smaller than most other parts of the body.

Liposuction is used to remove fat from areas of the body that might be hard to reach through exercise and dieting alone. The technique normally includes using force to break fat cells and then sucking up the fat with a tube. Laser liposuction is a much gentler technique that produces cleaner results because instead of using force a small fiber optic needle is inserted into the area where the fat is to be removed. A laser beam is pulsed through the needle which generates heat. This is a more accurate way of destroying fat cells and thus puts the rest of the body at much less risk of injury. This is important for facial procedures where areas are smaller and more delicate to scarring and other side effects. There are side effects of facial liposuction that are positive as well. The heat tends to tighten skin. Couple that with the result of a slimmed down face and you would appear to have reversed the effect of aging.

The Procedure

Facial liposuction follows three basic steps. Of course there is much more detail to it, which is why surgeons can charge so much for their services, but the actual surgery itself is a very basic concept. The anesthesia is administered to numb the area to be treated. Then the surgeon makes a small incision and uses the laser to melt fat cells from the area while a small tube is inserted to suck away the melted fat. It is a quick process and the patient is able to go home the same day of receiving the treatment.

The Surgeon

The results really depend on the skill of the surgeon which is why it is important to do ample research and find a board certified plastic surgeon that has undergone rigorous training and has plenty of experience. There will be many self designated boards but the ones that count are certifications by accredited boards. The certification you want to look for is by the American Board of Plastic Surgery which gets their designation from the American Board of Medical Specialties. This ensures that the surgeon is the right one under the vague description of cosmetic surgery. Dentistry and gynecology has cosmetic specialists too. Unless you are getting your teeth realigned you want a board certified plastic surgeon in liposuction.

The Results

The most common areas that are treated by facial liposuction are the cheeks, chins and the neck. Many patients would like to remove the double chin or neck rolls caused by excessive build up of fat in a particular area. These areas of fat are hard to remove through exercising. As people age, the skin under the neck begins to sag and laser liposuction is useful in targeting the extra fat in the skin. It tightens the area giving the patient a youthful appearance. An added feature of facial liposuction is that the areas treated are small so it costs less than average liposuction prices.

What is really great about facial liposuction and the use of laser technology to perform the procedure is that it is a relatively low pain treatment for results that can't be duplicated with any other type of treatment. The quick recovery time is also something that attracts many people since we don't want to spend too much time at home and we certainly don't want to tell everyone that we are not available due to plastic surgery recovery restrictions.
